Everything from scratch, with herbs and heirloom vegetables from the chef's garden, at a Shelter Island dining room by the South Ferry.
Lisa and Chef Terry Harwood have owned Vine Street since 2003, and the kitchen and the bar make everything from scratch. Terry grows many of the herbs and heirloom vegetables himself, so expect the garden on the plate.
It sits at 41 South Ferry Road, which the café calls a short drive from either Sag Harbor or Greenport once you are off the ferry, with dinner Sunday, Monday and Thursday from 5 pm to 9 pm and Friday and Saturday until 10 pm. It does not post a Tuesday or Wednesday service. A separate market counter is open Thursday to Monday from 4 pm to 8:30 pm. Reservations are by phone only.
